Hypnotherapy (Cape Town)
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy. It is used to access and create change at an unconscious level in clients. This change can be in the form of new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours, beliefs or feelings.
Many people have a misconception about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. Throughout the process you are always in control, the hypnotherapist will suggest something to you and you can either accept or reject it. Some people are more suggestible than other and can make for better candidates for hypnotherapy.
The traditional method of hypnotherapy is uses therapeutic relaxation and direct suggestion, this is very much like a guided relaxation process that has the addition of hypnotic suggestions by the therapist.
In the 1950’s Milton H. Erickson developed a different approach to hypnosis, known today as "Ericksonian hypnotherapy". Erickson used informal conversation, complex language patterns and therapeutic strategies. This process was partially adopted by the founders of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
Hypnotherapy can be a very beneficial addition to the coaching process.
